Momence is the competitor closest to us in spirit — no forced client marketplace, built for independent studios rather than large gym chains. We respect that. Their user experience is genuinely good, too: the client-facing app is well-designed, and the studio owner's dashboard is polished and easy to work with — as long as you're sitting at a desktop computer to use it. Where Bobclass pulls ahead is everything underneath that: price, true native apps for the person actually running the studio (on the go, not just at a desk), and payment support that doesn't leave studios outside a handful of core markets needing a sales call. If you're looking for a Momence alternative that doesn't charge a percentage of every booking, read on.
In short: Bobclass Studio is €34.99/month including VAT, with no percentage fee on transactions, ever. Momence's comparable Pro plan is $60/month plus a 2.5% fee on every payment you take — and its free Basic tier takes 5% from you and 4% from your client on top of standard card processing. Momence also doesn't publish processing rates for the Eurozone or Switzerland at all.

Take a mid-size studio doing 400 bookings a month at roughly €15 revenue per booking — €6,000 a month running through the platform.
On Momence Pro, that's the $60/month base fee (≈€53) plus a 2.5% fee on that €6,000 — another €150. Total: roughly €203/month. On Momence Custom, the flat $199/month (≈€174) drops the percentage fee but still comes to roughly €174/month. On Bobclass Studio — which comfortably covers 400 bookings within its 500/month limit — the cost is a flat €34.99/month, including VAT, with no percentage fee at any volume.
That's 5–6× more expensive on Momence for identical booking volume. And because Momence's base fee is billed in USD, a European studio's cost also moves with the dollar exchange rate every month — one more variable Bobclass's EUR, VAT-included pricing avoids entirely.
Momence deserves real credit here, more than any other competitor we've compared ourselves to. Its consumer app is "strictly a booking app" by Momence's own description — customers can't browse or discover other studios inside it, only the ones they've explicitly signed up with, and there's no default marketplace listing pulling your clients toward competitors the way Mindbody's or Eversports' does. ClassPass and Gympass integrations exist, but they're opt-in add-ons, not something switched on for you by default. That's a genuinely respectable position, and closer to how we think about it too: your clients are yours, and your software shouldn't be quietly shopping them around.
Where we differ isn't philosophy — it's everything downstream of it: pricing, who the mobile app is actually built for, and how well the platform is set up to serve a studio outside North America.
Momence markets itself as mobile-first, and for the person booking a class, that's true — their consumer app is well-reviewed and does its job. But look for the equivalent for the studio owner and it isn't there. Momence's own help center walks staff through creating a bookmark shortcut to the mobile website on their home screen — that's the "staff app." It's a website wearing an app icon, not a native application: no offline reliability, no platform-native speed, no App Store distribution, nothing that makes it feel like a real app when you're checking a client in between classes.
Bobclass is a true native app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, with identical functionality on every device — because the person running the studio needs the same tool whether they're behind the desk or in the middle of a session.
Bobclass Studio Manager runs natively on iPhone, Android, tablets and Mac
Bobclass Go, the client self service app
Momence's own pricing page publishes processing rates for exactly four countries: the US, UK, Australia and Canada. If you're running a studio anywhere in the Eurozone or in Switzerland, the instruction is to "get in touch" — there's no published rate for either region. Momence does support SEPA Direct Debit for Eurozone studios, though it requires an extra identity verification step through Stripe rather than being available out of the box the way card payments are for US, UK, Australian and Canadian studios. What Momence doesn't appear to offer at all is Swiss QR-bill invoicing.
Bobclass supports the way studios actually get paid across a wide range of markets, US included: Swiss QR-bill invoicing, EU/EEA IBAN and BIC, UK sort code, and US account and routing numbers are all supported as standard, alongside six languages. Whether you're in Zurich, Geneva, Austin or Toronto, your payment setup isn't treated as an edge case that needs a sales call to sort out.
Momence was acquired by Clubessential Holdings in January 2025, then folded into Xplor Technologies — backed by private equity firm Advent International — in March 2026. That's two ownership changes in about fourteen months.
To be fair, Momence's own support page makes a real, specific claim: 24/7 coverage via chat, email and phone, with an average chat response time under 30 seconds. That first-contact speed appears genuine. What multiple reviews describe, especially since the acquisition, is a gap between that fast first response and what happens next — staff not equipped to resolve issues when they arise, billing problems needing repeated follow-up, and cancellations that don't reliably stop charges. Momence's own Capterra customer-service score, at 3.7 out of 5, is its lowest sub-rating. It's also worth knowing that Momence's chat and phone support are only accessible after logging into a host account — a prospective switcher can't test responsiveness before signing up, only read the marketing claim. Reviews also describe a standard 12-month contract commitment.
Bobclass is independent and founder-run. Renewal is month-to-month through the App Store — cancel anytime, no notice period, no ownership change to worry about.
Most "we'll help you migrate" offers really mean: export a CSV yourself, reformat it to spec, and hope nothing breaks on the way in. Ours doesn't work like that. Send a screenshot of your Momence schedule to import@bobclass.com and we extract the classes, times, instructors and recurrence automatically — you don't re-type a single session. Send your client list however Momence gives it to you, Excel or CSV, and we import it directly into Bobclass. One email, and we handle the rest.
And if you're still under a Momence contract, you don't have to wait it out to make the move. Get in touch and we'll give you the Studio tier free for 2 months, so you can run both platforms in parallel and switch over properly, without paying for two tools at once — the overlap is on us.
If you're still weeks or months from opening your studio, Bobclass isn't just a cheaper starting point to outgrow later — it's a genuinely good long-term fit. Download it and start using it today: no demo call to book, no sales rep to get past before you can actually see the product. When you're pre-revenue, every hour spent on a sales process is an hour you don't have.
It's priced for where you actually are on day one, too. Starter is free forever, no card required, so software isn't a cost you're carrying before you have a single paying client. And because it scales cleanly from Starter through Pro, Studio and Unlimited on one platform, there's no forced migration waiting for you once you hit 200 bookings, or 2,000 — the tool you launch with can genuinely be the tool you're still using in ten years.
Self-service doesn't mean alone, either. It's a small, founder-led team behind Bobclass, not a call center — so when you do need help setting things up, you're talking to someone who actually built the product.
We'd rather you pick the right tool than the wrong one. Momence is likely a better fit if:
Bobclass is built for independent Pilates, yoga, fitness and personal training studios that want a fast, simple, genuinely native tool without paying a percentage on every transaction — wherever you're based. If that's you, we're confident you'll be happy.
Start on the free plan — no credit card, no contract, no commitment. Already on Momence? Get in touch — we'll give you the Studio tier free for 2 months, plus help import your client list and schedule, so you can switch now without paying twice.
Yes — particularly for independent Pilates, yoga and fitness studios. The main differences: Bobclass charges €34.99/month flat with no transaction fee; Momence's Pro plan is $60/month plus 2.5% on every payment, and its free Basic tier takes 5% from the studio and 4% from the client. Bobclass is a true native app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android; Momence has no native owner app — staff use a browser bookmark to the mobile site. Bobclass is independent and founder-run with month-to-month billing; Momence has changed ownership twice in 14 months and reviews describe a standard 12-month contract.
If you're running a Pilates, yoga or boutique fitness studio and want a simpler, cheaper, more portable alternative to Momence, Bobclass is the better fit.
Partially. Momence's pricing page publishes processing rates for the US, UK, Australia and Canada only — Eurozone and Swiss rates aren't published, and the instruction is to "get in touch with our product specialist team." Momence does support SEPA Direct Debit for Eurozone payments, though it requires an extra identity verification step through Stripe. Swiss QR-bill invoicing doesn't appear to be supported at all.
Bobclass supports Swiss QR-bill, EU/EEA IBAN and BIC, and UK and US formats as standard, in six languages, with no published-rate gap for any of them.
No. Momence's own help center instructs staff to save a bookmark to the mobile website on their home screen — that's the extent of the "staff app." There's no dedicated native application for the person running the studio, only for their clients (and that client app, while available on both iOS and Android, has no Mac support).
Bobclass is a true native app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android with identical functionality everywhere, for the studio owner as well as the client.
Bobclass. Pilates studios run three distinct session types: private one-on-one sessions, duets (two clients sharing a session at a lower price per person), and group classes. Bobclass handles all three in one schedule, with duets working in a smart way — a second spot opens automatically once the first client confirms, so a second client can self-book without manual coordination. Momence is a broader, multi-vertical platform (yoga, Pilates, gyms, spin, spas, dance schools, physio, salons all on one system), which means it's less tailored to Pilates-specific workflows than a purpose-built tool.
